In my opinion, his dictionary has transcended its time (1954). They talked about the good and the bad the pretty and ugly. Though both the North and South banned the enlistment of anyone under the age of 18, thousands of boys and some girls as young as ten fought during the Civil War. I felt that the author really knows his stuff but left out a lot of necessary context that a beginner like myself needs to form a clear picture.
