With a self-help book, the biggest mistake I typically see is that authors tend to segment their points too rigidly, as if they are separate boxes. The Eastern world integrates animals within its cultures while the Western view is humanity has been given "dominion" over them. Sections in the book give clear and detailed information about current and emerging medications, as well as technologies that people with diabetes depend on like insulin pumps, glucose monitors, and CGMs. De Waal is thoughtful and offers his opinions in a non forceful manner.
